A drawing included in the book will be sent along with it (you may choose which one in the order in which you placed your order).
In addition, those who purchase it well in advance will have the opportunity to suggest an idea for a drawing, provided it stays within the limits of the model.
This project focuses on Helene and will feature all the drawings I’ve made of her, as well as some of the photographs she took herself as references for the works. In addition, each work will be accompanied by a text explaining something related to that piece.
It will include approximately 25 drawings and between 40 and 50 photos.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Musée means museum in French. Today, a museum is generally considered a not-for-profit, permanent institution in the service of society that researches, collects, conserves, interprets and exhibits tangible and intangible heritage (according to the definition of the International Council of Museums). However, the word’s origin comes from the Ancient Greek mouseîon, which meant “the house or place dedicated to the Muses.” In Greek mythology, the Muses were nine sister goddesses who protected and inspired the arts and sciences.
This is the first book in a series—an infinite museum filled with galleries, each dedicated to a person and my relationship with them. Sometimes there will be more drawings; other times I may include a photograph, or the texts will take center stage.
It is, therefore, a museum of my collaborations—the home and refuge of my muses. Although “muse” is not a word I’ve ever felt entirely comfortable with, here the muse is part of the creation itself; she not only inspires or stimulates my talent but is an integral part of the creative process and bears her own signature as well.
This project stems from the need to thank the people with whom I’ve collaborated most for their openness, their time, and their constant inspiration. As I said, I’m comfortable letting myself be advised or guided regarding the content of my drawings. For some time now, whenever I met someone, I’d consider the possibility of them becoming the inspiration for an entire project. It was such a lofty goal that it ended up being impossible and created pressure on both sides; in the end, it became a kind of reward or even blackmail, which made me uncomfortable. That’s why, by approaching it as a series, I remove that exclusivity, normalize it, and allow myself to enjoy it without it interfering with other aspects.
