Leviathan

The crowdfunding campaign for this book was successful.

Although this fifth volume of my art is a simple compilation of the drawings made since volume four, it is a project tinged with sadness, false hopes and broken dreams. In fact, I have advanced its publication because the two projects I had planned to do between the two volumes have not been finally realized. One of them, the project of my life. I do not know to what extent this is reflected in the art. I think not much, since I have drawn in moments of lucidity that in turn have lifted my spirits.

The book begins with a chronological compilation of acrylic paintings, something that was to be the focus of this project. For most of the paintings I have included the initial sketch and two texts, one more poetic about what the painting has transmitted to me and the other more technical. Due to demotivation and lack of energy this idea was reduced and I have added, in a second part, my usual drawings both in pencil and watercolor, with some accompanying text. I have asked these texts to models who have posed for me and it has been the most pleasant part of the project. Their texts have moved me and have given value to what I do. I have closed with a small chapter about a personal experience tinged with sadness, today, but with time I hope to know how to interpret it in a positive way.

We are our own monsters, we dwell with them inside. Leviathan has accompanied me since the beginning of my projects, my leitmotiv. These months I have struggled with sadness, with loneliness. A battle between my self and my desires, my dreams. In silence we have embraced each other, shouting we have hated each other. But you can’t give up your essence. The future will tell who wins.
